Another meme, why not?

I'm feeling uninspired about this blog lately, so here is yet another meme taken from Michelle.

Here's watchya gotta do, if you you so choose to do this literary meme:

1. Pick up the nearest book.
2. Open to page 123.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the next three sentences.
5. Tag five people and acknowledge who tagged you. (naaaah.)

The World and the Flesh have failed us; a third power remains. And success of this third kind is most glorious of all. A spoiled saint, a Pharisee, an inquisitor, or a magician, makes better sport in Hell than a mere common tyrant or debauchee.

From The Screwtape Letters by C. S. Lewis, which always makes me shiver a little. Those nasty, scheming demons.

Memory Eternal

I've just heard the sad news this morning, that sweet baby boy River passed away Friday evening. His family was able to say goodbye to him. Thank you for praying for my friends and their son. Please continue to do so. May his memory be eternal.

Prayers Needed

I've been reluctant to put this on my blog, and haven't had the heart to blog about anything else, but a friend of ours and her family really need a lot of prayers. On Monday, a sweet mama gave birth to her third baby, a beautiful baby boy River. The birth was traumatic, River was born very blue, and he is now in a NICU in a special cooling bed to hopefully reverse likely severe brain damage. Please pray for River, for a miracle, for peace, for healing, for his mommy and daddy, and his big sisters who are not used to being separated from their mom.

I know you'll be praying, and I'll update.

Thank you.

Keepin' it Real Meme

Michelle tagged me. Here are pictures of my house, as-is, on a Wednesday morning. Mind you,
I normally don't tidy the house (unless I'm doing some "deep cleaning") until about an hour prior to Jason's return from work.

1. The Fridge

2. My closet - or I should say, wardrobe. This is pretty neat for me. Notice I have little more storage space above. This system is from Ikea, and I whole-heartedly love it.

3. The Kitchen Sink - one side is clean. It is a mess, but I have to wait until James takes a nap to deal with it because in order to clear out the sink, I must first empty the dish washer, of which, once opened, he finds to be utterly irresistable to climb upon.

4. The [One and Only] Toilet

5. My Favorite Shoes - Mom shoes. Practical, and the most comfy on my skinny, bony, blister-prone feet. Not my prettiest shoes, no. But what I grab for walks and park days.

6. Favorite room in the house - living room. It's the most lived in room as well. Notice the new ceiling fan Jason picked out. Nice job, huh?

7. Favorite spot in the house - Prayer wall. I think it's pretty, and it reminds me to pray. Why the picture is blurry, I don't know.

8. My Laundry - Yup folks, today is a diaper washing day.

9. Next room to be cleaned - A messy children's room.

10. My dream vacation - A Tour of Europe
If you feel like doing this meme yourself, go for it!

A glorious chore.

Nearly every morning lately, I take great enjoyment in watering our little garden patch. With the generally warm weather, the mornings are still cool and refreshing. I place shoes on my children still in their jammies, and we go outside. James follows me around, complaining the way babies do, that I don't give him a turn with the watering can but gets distracted by his sister riding her red trike around with excitement. I talk to my plants like a crazy lady, saying "Good morning little squash! You are looking well this morning." I admire my ugly black knock of crocs as I look down. Sometimes I pick a tomato, sometimes I scowl at bug-bitten leaves. But always I thank God for such fine mornings, and the goodness of a little work and routine. And a reward of a cup of coffee awaiting my reentering of our sturdy little house.

Haphazard Images from a Disposable Camera

What hubby does at work all day:

It's gonna be a ritzy hotel.

Really ritzy.

Oh and here are Jason and I after dinner on our anniversary! This picture wants me to take poise classes to learn how to adjust my posture for photos, and also chop off my hair. There is so. much. hair. And the way I have my jacket on makes me look expectant. I am not. But Jason looks nice.

Earlier that same day, Hannah got her first big girl salon hair cut with me. She loved every minute of it. You can tell she's thoroughly pleased my her big smile and tongue sticking out like a happy puppy. Precious thing. We cut bangs.

Disposable cameras take awful pictures! And from now on, I'm going to try to not groan any more about cameras.

Here is a random list of 5 things that I love today:

1. My mom text messaging me from vacation that she has just witnessed Old Faithful.
2. My tomatoes that I grew and ate for lunch.
3. Cilantro salad dressing.
4. Kids that fight and then make up with a hug and a kiss, and some pats on the back.
5. Seeing the light at the end of the laundry tunnel.
