Ikea, here we come.

I'm in the market for something that may not exist. I need a desk that is nice enough (and compact enough) to go in our front room, that contains and hides all our computer junk, as well as printer and paper shredder so it is unseen by our little humans with iddy biddy widdle fingers. The home office is just not working in the kid's room. Duh.

I went to all these big furniture stores and everything was huge. And I thought, well, this is for people with gigantic houses. And it was all expensive, and I thought, why do I even bother coming to these places? I know I'm just going to end up at Ikea. But I feel like, should ALL my furniture be Ikea? What will happen in ten years when ALL of it gets funky and broken? Then we are going to have to buy even more Ikea stuff. Ah wella. The meatballs are yummy.

We got our comupter armoire at Ikea and it's held up through a few moves. :) Conceals lots! lol

I was just going to say, check out their discounted section (not sure where it is or how to ask for it, but it's damaged items that are reduced greatly). We got our comp armoire at about 70% off that way and it only had a small chip of wood misding from the top of it where no one can see anyways.

oh Ikea! I have a love hate relationship with their products. They are just so darn affordable. I am glad I live about 30 minutes away from one. Keeps down on my visits. Hope you find what you are looking for and need. Have you tried craigslist? We got a great armoire for 20 bucks!

i hadn't even thought about craigslist. we've used it with success a couple of times though.

but we got something at good old ikea. it's an enormous armoire that holds EVERYTHING. the laptop, the printer, books, file cabinet, crafting junk, etc. we're pretty excited and now we have a bona fide kids room. yeah, we're pretty excited.

sara - when did you send it?

Ikea.... haven't been there yet. A new one opened close by, yet I haven't found the time to go. I hear you need at LEAST an hour (if not an entire day) to get through the store.

One day I will make the pilgrimage. :) I'll hang on tight to my credit card, though, since I hear you "get what you pay for."

Hope you find something nice to meet your needs!

great if you like particle board furniture... but, as stated, the price is hard to beat.

hooray for space solutions, eh?

oh my friend sarah blake sends them for the group...we meet on the third wednesday at 10am. i thought i had asked her to add you to the list. i'll double check.

it's pretty fun. we do some prayers, have a little lesson from fr. wayne in the nave, practice a song from church and do a craft. then we all head over to the park for lunch and play. the kids love it. and it's nice to hang with other odox mamas.

okay, so we bought this container thing at Ikea, and it's fantastic. It's not the prettiest neccessarily and a pain in the butt to put together, but it holds so much of our stuff, because we have a small apartment and need to have storage on our dining room table.

It worked for us, and you could maybe put it on/in the desk.
