Spoonful of Sugar

Sometimes it takes some Mary Poppins to get us doing our chores. Hey look at that! I figured out how to do links! That was really easy. I'm seriously lame for not figuring that out sooner.

But back to chores. My mom was pretty cool about doing housework. She would always have some music blasting. We would dance around with our cleaning tools. Sometimes she would set a timer and say we would only clean until the alarm buzzed. It was like a game. I'm trying to do the same now with Hannah to get her (and myself) motivated to clean up after ourselves. How do you get motivated? How do you get kids to clean up after themselves?

And a blogger question. I can't get a link from youtube.com directly because my blog's URL is too long. Anyone have any help for me? Thanks!

I am fortunate that my son is a big of a neat freak. He got the gene that everyone, but myself, has. It isn't too hard to motivate him to clean, but motivating myself is nearly impossible.
I finally had to create a chore chart which I attempt to stick too. I've had to re-vamp it a little this week because I've found that with the addition to our family, nap schedules are different than before. But, overall, my chore chart works wonders!!

A quick story about my son.

We keep his Duplo blocks in a mandarin orange crate. And every night this is one of the toys that he has to clean up before bed. A few nights ago, he had cleaned up all the blocks earlier in the evening, but on his way to bed, he noticed that there was one on the floor. He cried out, "oh no!" He picked it up immediately, put it in the crate and went straight to bed! Crazy :)
