Confession of a Greedy Cheap Skate

Last night Jason and I were looking at brochure for an organization that supports a cause that we both really care about and are thinking of donating to. We were filling it out and got to the section where you check the box of which amount you are going to give and Jason asked, "What do you think?"

Pause. I wanted to say the minimum, $25 but I thought, hmmm, we could probably give a little more, I did save some money the other day on blah blah blah..."Fifty," I blurted out feeling rather magnanimous.

Another pause. "That's IT? I was thinking $250!"

Oh.

Sigh.

I hold on to my money too tightly. Lord have mercy

Ahh... there's one in every family. My hubby can be cheap... but the "good" of it is that his frugal tendencies do knock some sense into me... and they keep us living within our means.

I am always amazed at how, when we give freely, God really does continue to take care of us financially. Not that I'm a very charitable person... I could stand some improvement, for sure.

Don't feel bad. $50 is pretty much my standard donation for everything. Even Katrina. Grad gifts? $50. Wedding gift? $50

I think the fact that you shared your thought process shows alot. You budget for your family and your initial reaction was to see what fit within your means. I think if you were REALLY being greedy you would have said $0.

But I know how you feel. I know that we could do to give more, and that greed part tugs my pocket book strings closed fast. :(
